Business: So will this camera giant no longer make DSLR?
Nikon took this decision to focus on the next generation of mirrorless cameras
If someone mentions a professional camera and Nikon’s name does not come, then it is not possible for this to happen. In today’s time, many updated cameras have started coming in the smartphone, but even today many people rely only on Nikon’s DSLR camera for the best photos. Photographers also keep an eye on this camera. Because, many memories have been added to it, surprisingly it is bad news for the photographers, but according to the report it is true.
The sad news for photographers around the world is that Nikon, which has been making DSLR cameras for more than 60 years, will focus on the next generation of mirrorless cameras which are in high demand these days. The report mentions that Nikon’s cameras are falling short of smartphones, which tend to feature increasingly powerful cameras. It aims to overtake them by offering products with more exclusive features.
Last month, Nikon released the Z30 APS-C sized mirrorless camera, which is said to be ideal for vlog content creators. Meanwhile, the best-known camera brands, Sony and Canon, are also focusing more on mirrorless cameras. In December 2021, Canon’s CEO confirmed that the ‘1DX Mark 3’ would be the company’s last flagship DSLR. Although this information has not been given by Nikon but by Nikkei Asia Report. Nikon also issued a press statement in this regard. Nikon said we had a media article regarding the withdrawal of the SLR. This media article is only speculation and Nikon has not made any announcement in this regard. Nikon continues to produce, sell and service the digital SLR. Therefore, the sale of Nikon DSLR cameras will continue.
Nikon does not confirm that it will develop new SLR models. So, there is still some sort of ambiguity. On the other hand, the Nikkei Asia report also suggests that the production of the new SLR model will stop, with the company continuing to manufacture and sell the existing SLR model. The Nikon SLR camera came in the year 2020 and since then no new model has arrived. The company also discontinued its Nikon D3500 and Nikon D5600 cameras some time back.
