BPL 2022: Never seen such a run out, Andre Russell’s innings ended in a strange way

Bangladesh Premier League 2022: It has always been interesting to watch run outs in cricket. Sometimes both the batsmen fall victim to the run out by reaching the same end in a misunderstanding, and sometimes the batsman has to go to the pavilion due to the bat being in the air even after reaching the crease. It has happened many times that the batsman has to lose his wicket due to falling on the pitch while taking a run. But Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) saw the strangest run out ever.

BPL started from 21st January and this funny incident happened on the very first day. In the second match of the season, Khulna Tigers (KLT) and Minister Group Dhaka (MGD) were face to face. In the 15th over of Dhaka’s innings, Andre Russell tried to steal a run off Thisara Perera’s delivery. Mahedi Hasan, standing at third man, threw the ball rapidly towards the striker’s end. The ball hit the stumps directly but by then Mahmudullah had reached the crease. The interesting thing was that this ball after hitting the striker end’s stump also entered the non-striker end’s stump. Andre Russell was some distance away from the crease when the ball was hitting the stumps. The fielders made a strong appeal and West Indies’ dashing all-rounder Russell had to return to the pavilion.

Andre Russell was also in awe of this strange run out. He was also seen smiling while returning to the pavilion. The players of Khulna Tigers in the field were also seen laughing after seeing this strange run out.

After this shocking run out of Andre Russell in this BPL match, his team could not cross the MGD 200 mark. Batting first, the team scored 183 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, KLT won by 5 wickets with one over remaining.
