Corporation elections in Delhi on December 4

New Delhi, The merger of the three municipal corporations of Delhi and the postponed municipal elections in the name of delimitation have been announced. The election of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be held in the middle of the Gujarat Assembly elections. Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Dev announced the MCD elections on Friday. He informed that nominations will be held from November 7 to 14. Voting will be held on December 4 and counting of votes will take place on December 7. It is worth noting that the polling is to be held in Gujarat on December 1 and 5, where the Aam Aadmi Party has thrown all its strength.

However, after merging all the three municipal corporations, there are 250 seats in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, out of which 42 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes. 50% seats in MCD have been reserved for women. After the delimitation of all the wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Central Government had issued a notification on 18 October. Election officials said that in all 250 wards of Delhi, votes will be cast through EVMs. For this, more than 50 thousand EVMs will be used.

With the announcement of elections, the model code of conduct has come into force in Delhi. This time the Election Commission has increased the expenditure limit of candidates in the corporation from Rs.6 lakh to Rs.8 lakh. Significantly, the Aam Aadmi Party is working very hard in the Gujarat elections and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is spending more time in Gujarat. But after the announcement of the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections, he and the entire team will have to work hard in Delhi. BJP has been winning the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections for the last 15 years.
