Blast in Kabul: 19 killed, 27 injured

Kabul. At least 19 people were killed and 27 were injured in an explosion in a Shia-dominated area in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, early on Friday. A spokesman for the Kabul police chief appointed by the Taliban gave this information.

Spokesman Khalid Zadran said that the blast took place on Friday morning in Dashti Barchi area. The region is mostly inhabited by the minority Shia community of Afghanistan. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blast.
Since the Taliban took over the reins of the country in August 2021, its major rival Islamic State group has targeted the Hazara community several times in the Dashti Barchi area.

Abdul Nafi Taqor, a Taliban-appointed spokesman in the Interior Ministry, had earlier said, “Our teams have been dispatched to the scene.
