BJP’s hope from 80-year-old Amarinder Singh

Captain Amarinder Singh is going to join BJP himself by merging his party Punjab Lokhit Congress with BJP. He has announced the merger of the party with the BJP and on Monday it is possible that he too may join the BJP. In the last assembly elections, his party had aligned with the BJP but they could not win a single seat. Despite this, the BJP has hope from him. He is 80 years old and in BJP there is an undeclared rule for leaders to retire in 75 years. However, it seems that the party is changing this rule due to political compulsion.

That’s when 79-year-old BS Yediyurappa has been given the task of contesting elections in Karnataka. The party has also made him a member of the parliamentary board. In the same way, it seems that in Punjab, a Sikh face is needed to show a different identity to the BJP and that face could be Captain Amarinder Singh. Although the BJP recently included Iqbal Singh Lalpura, former IPS officer of Punjab, in the parliamentary board, but his face is not that big. The immediate concern of the BJP is the Lok Sabha elections. The party has to work on a strategy of winning one or two additional seats while saving the two seats it has won. Captain can come in handy in this. His wife Preneet Kaur is currently a Congress MP from Patiala seat. BJP is feeling that in the next elections, it can win the Patiala seat with the help of Captain. For the BJP working on each seat, Captain Punjab can be of some use.
