Shortly after winning the election, 31-year-old Majithia was made a cabinet minister in the Parkash Singh Badal government. Majithia’s father Satyajit Singh raised a big business empire from Delhi, UP to Punjab. In 1892, the Khalsa of Amritsar was established with the help of the ancestors of Majithia. The influence of Majithia’s family can be gauged from the fact that in 1935 this family had bought the plane. While Majithia’s elder brother Gurmehar focused his attention on business, Majithia thought it right to step into politics.
