Kolkata, In West Bengal, BJP has started a political campaign against Mamata Banerjee’s government. On Tuesday, all the big leaders of the party took to the road and marched towards Nabanna, the secretariat of the state government. It was named as Nabanna Chalo campaign. During this, the crowd involved in the demonstration of BJP leaders became furious and set government vehicles on fire. Later, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Shubendu Adhikari and BJP MP Locket Chatterjee were taken into custody. The High Court has sought a report from the state government on this demonstration.
However, BJP was marching to reach Nabanna Secretariat, leveling various allegations against the state government. Police stopped and detained other party leaders including Shubhendu Adhikari, BJP MP Locket Chatterjee and Rahul Sinha. Before being taken into custody, Shubhendu Adhikari said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has turned West Bengal into North Korea.
Shubhendu Adhikari said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee does not have the support of her people and that is why she is implementing dictatorship like North Korea in Bengal. He said – The price will have to be paid for what the police is doing, BJP is coming. BJP had called party workers from other states also for this march and almost all the big leaders of the party joined it. This performance of BJP was against the corruption of Mamta government.
The state government did not allow this demonstration. In view of the preparations of the BJP, tight security arrangements were made by the state government in Kolkata and Howrah. A clash broke out at Raniganj railway station in Asansol between party workers and the police, who were going to Kolkata for the BJP’s secretariat march. Apart from this, there were clashes between the police and BJP workers at many places.
