Kane Williamson Injury Update: New Zealand head coach Gary Stead has revealed that captain Kane Williamson could miss some matches of the T20 World Cup due to an elbow injury. England defeated New Zealand by 13 runs in the warm-up match on Wednesday. Williamson was seen fielding in the match but did not bat as a precaution.

Stead said Williamson’s elbow injury worsened after the first warm-up match. Williamson had scored 37 runs in 30 balls in that match but New Zealand had to face defeat by three wickets. Asked about the possibility of Williamson being out in a few matches, Stead told Stuff.co.NZ that it is a possibility. However, we are hopeful that he will be able to play if he gets the right rest and balance.

New Zealand have to play Pakistan on Tuesday but the remaining four Super 12 matches will have to be played within seven days in which there is little chance of rest. Stead said that Kane is one of the batsmen to beat the ball and he prepares in the same way but sometimes it causes damage. We are trying to strike the right balance and don’t want to create trouble.
