World Boxing Championships: Indian boxers Nishant Dev and Sanjeet have entered the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Championships. Nishant defeated Marco Alvarez of Mexico 3-2 in the round of 16 in the 71 kg weight category. He will face Russia’s Vadim Musev in the quarterfinals.
In the round of 16 in the 92 kg weight category, Sanjeet competed with Georgy Shiglej of Georgia. He won this match 4-1. Sanjeet has reached the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Championships for the second time in a row. He will next face Italy’s Aziz Abbas Mohidini.
Akash and Narendra also reached the quarterfinals
Before Nishant and Sanjeet, Akash Kumar (54kg) and Narender Barwal (+92kg) have also reached the quarterfinals by winning their respective matches. Akash defeated Caleb Tirado of Puerto Rico 5-0 in a one-sided match. On the other hand, Narendra won the round of 16 match by defeating Tajikistan’s Zakhou Kurbanov.
