Bhima Koregaon: NIA challenges Teltumbde’s bail in Supreme Court
New Delhi. Bhima Koregaon case accused Prof. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s November 18 order granting bail to Anand Teltumbde. An apex court bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud listed the matter today for hearing on NIA’s appeal on November 25.
The probe agency in the matter, NIA told the top court that the Bombay High Court had conducted a mini trial and roving inquiry which would affect the trial in the matter at this stage. Senior Law Officer Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta, appearing for NIA, appeared today for urgent hearing in the matter.
Referring to this, he said that the CJI bench listed the appeal for hearing on November 25. Significantly, on November 18, the Bombay High Court in its order granted bail to Professor Anand Teltumbde, one of the accused in the Bhima Koregaon violence case.
