baby talcum powder license canceled

Mumbai The Food and Drug Administration of Maharashtra has canceled the Mulund-based Johnson & Johnson’s manufacturing license for Baby Talcum Powder. The department has taken this decision as the sample of Baby Talcum Powder is not of standard quality.
The FDA said the license of Johnson’s Baby Powder is being revoked as the samples taken from Nashik and Pune are not up to quality standards. The department has directed the company to recall the baby powder from the market. The FDA declared these samples not to conform to its standard quality after failing to comply with IS 5339:2009 (Second Amendment Amendment No. 3) for Skin Powder for Infants at test pH.
The FDA said in a statement that Johnson’s Baby Powder is mostly used on newborn babies. The samples have revealed that it does not conform to the pH standards, so use of this product can affect the skin health of newborns. (talk)
