Australian captain Aaron Finch retires from ODIs

Melbourne. Australia’s white-ball captain Aaron Finch will retire from ODI cricket on September 11 after the third and final ODI against New Zealand in Cairns. However, he will continue to play T20 and will also lead the team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Finch said it has been a wonderful journey with some great memories. I am fortunate to have been a part of this wonderful team and have played with these players. But now the time has come to hand over the captaincy to someone else so that they can get enough time to prepare for the next World Cup. I thank everyone who has supported me in this journey.
Finch has scored just 169 runs in ODI cricket this year at a simple average of 13. He has been dismissed for zero five times in the last 12 ODI innings. He has only 26 runs to his name in the last seven innings. Finch also revealed that he will continue to play for the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL. Apart from this, he can also try his luck in franchise cricket to be held in other countries as Australia has to play a T20 match in August next year after this T20 World Cup.
