Australia beat India by 5 wickets in a thrilling match, Beth Mooney scored a brilliant century

Australia Women vs India Women 2nd ODI: Opener Beth Mooney (125 not out) scored a century as Australia defeated the Indian women’s team by five wickets in the second ODI at Harup Park to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. With this victory, the three-match series has also become the name of the Australian team.

Australia captain Meg Lenning won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, India scored 274 for seven in 50 overs. In response, Australia’s team, chasing the target, won the match by scoring 275 for five in 50 overs on the basis of Mooney’s unbeaten 125 off 133 balls. Australia won on the last ball. For India, Jhulan Goswami, Meghna Singh, Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma got one wicket each.

Australia lost four important wickets for 52 runs

Chasing the target, Australia did not have a good start and they lost the wicket of Alyssa Healy (00) in the very first over. Captain Lanning (06) was also dismissed soon after. Mooney and McGrath added 126 runs for the fifth wicket and made it difficult for India. Earlier, openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma got the Indian team off to a great start and the duo shared a 74-run partnership for the first wicket. This partnership was broken by Sophie Molyneux by dismissing Shafali (22). After this, India quickly lost the wickets of captain Mithali Raj (8) and Yastika Bhatia (3).

Mandhana, along with wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh, led the innings and both shared a 76-run partnership for the fourth wicket and took the team out of pressure. Mandhana missed a century and was dismissed for 86 runs off 94 balls with the help of 11 fours. After this, Richa was also dismissed as the fifth batsman after scoring 44 runs in 50 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Then Deepti (23) and Pooja (29) returned to the pavilion after scoring runs while Jhulan remained unbeaten on 28 off 25 balls with the help of three fours.
