Srinagar. The Army said on Monday that an anti-infiltration operation was carried out despite adverse weather in Machil sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir, during which two infiltrators were killed on Sunday. Huge success. Chill Brigade Commander Brigadier Vinod Negi said that the army and police conducted this operation in Tekri Nar near the Line of Control (LOC).
The expedition area was a rugged hill with dense forest and many streams. Colonel Puneet Chauhan, who carried out the operation, said that after specific intelligence inputs about infiltration from Jammu and Kashmir Police and other intelligence agencies, all soldiers in Machil sector was put on high alert.
He said that around 07:30 am yesterday, two armed infiltrators were seen approaching Tekri Nar area of Machil sector. During this, both the infiltrators were killed in the encounter of the soldiers with the terrorists. Two AK-47 rifles, six AK magazines, 53 AK ammunition, four grenades, two pistols and 35 pistols besides Pakistani currency were recovered from the dead, he said. (talk)
