On the other hand, tech giant Apple is likely to see strong sales in the second half of this year, enabling it to account for one-third of the total global 5G smartphone shipments in 2021. According to market research firm Counterpoint, the iPhone 12 and upcoming 13 series devices are set to drive global 5G shipments to nearly 200 million units, helping to push total shipments to 605 million in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Despite its late launch in October last year, Apple’s iPhone 12 accounted for 24 percent of all 5G smartphone shipments globally, the market research firm said in a statement. With earlier launches for the iPhone 13 this year and continued strong demand for iOS, Counterpoint sees Apple accounting for 33 percent of all global 5G shipments.
