Why is there anemia?

It was a matter of the effect of anemia on health, now the question is, what happens in anemia that makes health so bad? The answer is – iron deficiency in the body.

Red blood cells or hemoglobin, present in our blood, is a form of iron. Moreover, the red color of blood is also due to iron. When we eat a diet rich in iron, the body’s metabolism converts it into hemoglobin, which makes red blood cells. The oxygen present in the lungs reaches the whole body through these red blood cells. When the number of red blood cells in the blood falls below the required limit, then the health starts to deteriorate due to lack of oxygen in the body.

You must be thinking that why do red blood cells decrease in the blood? The answer is to disturb the balance of red blood cell formation and destruction in the body. This balance is disturbed when the rate of formation of new cells decreases but old cells are destroyed at their normal speed. Because the life span of red blood cells is only 100 to 120 days. The main reason for the slow growth of new cells is the lack of iron, vitamin B-12, vitamin C and folate in the diet or low thyroid hormone. In some cases, the lack of erythroprotein in the body also reduces the speed of their formation, but this happens when there is a defect or infection in the kidney.

How is the lack of blood in the body confirmed?

Some blood tests are done to find out the level of hemoglobin and iron in the blood such as CBC i.e. complete blood count, serum iron level, ferritin, vitamin B-12 and folic acid.

In the serious condition of anemia, the leakage of blood in the stool is checked. So that it can be known that there is no bleeding in the digestive track. If there is blood in the stool due to stomach ulcers, ulcerative colitis and colon cancer, then there will also be anemia.
