Andre Russell will return to ‘Big Bash League’ after four years, this team will make a splash

Big Bash League 2021: A big update has come out about West Indies’ star all-rounder Andre Russell. Russell will be seen on the field in the current season of Big Bash League (BBL 2021). Melbourne Stars announced on Wednesday that Andre Russell will join the squad for the current season of the league. During this, Russell will play five matches for the team. Russell last participated in the ‘Big Bash League’ in 2017. He is making a comeback in this tournament after almost 4 years. Andre Russell will sign for the ‘Melbourne Stars’ this season as the fifth player after Kais Ahmed, Joe Clarke, Syed Faridoun and Haris Rauf.

Head coach David Hussey said, “The first match for the Russell Stars will be on Friday against their previous BBL club Sydney Thunder. We want our Stars family to see the best players at the MCG in action mode.” Andre Russell did his best in the BBL in three seasons from 2014 to 2017. Russell played 19 matches in three seasons for the Thunder. He played the last match in BBL in January 2017. In BBL, he has scored 296 runs in 17 innings at a strike rate of 166.29, which includes 21 sixes. Talking about bowling, he has also taken 23 wickets at an economy rate of 7.97. He has done well with both the ball and the bat.

After arriving in Sydney, Russell is currently in home quarantine for 72 hours. He scored an unbeaten 90 off just 32 balls to guide his team Deccan Gladiators to the T10 League title in Abu Dhabi, in which he won the ‘Player of the Match’ title. Russell was recently retained by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 2022 season of IPL. He is also playing in IPL for a long time.
