Mukul Rohatgi will be the next Attorney General

New Delhi. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi is set to become the Attorney General of India again. If sources are to be believed, he has given his consent to take over the top post. Rohatgi is set to begin his second term as the country’s top law officer from October 1.
Current Attorney General K.K. Venugopal’s term ends on 30 September. Venugopal, 91, was appointed as the country’s top law officer on June 30, 2017.
Sources said Rohatgi is one of the top court lawyers in the country. He has given his consent to take over the top post. He was first appointed Attorney General in 2014 for a three-year term. Venugopal had recently said that he cannot continue as the top law officer after the completion of his current term. The Attorney General also has the right of hearing in all the courts of the country. (IANS)
