UPI Payment Down: The Unified Payment Interface (UPI), the instant payment gateway operated by the National Payments Council of India (NPCI), was closed for over an hour. Ever since the UPI server went down, many users started reporting on social media that the UPI server is down and they are unable to do any transaction using digital wallets or online payment services like Google Pay, Phone Pay and Paytm. Many users were left wondering if there was really some problem with UPI or it was just a problem on their part.

Some users also posted screenshots of their failed UPI transactions on social media. One such user said that he was trying to make payment through Google Pay for a few hours but was not able to do so. However, at 5.18 pm, NPCI tweeted saying, ‘Sorry for the inconvenience caused to UPI users due to technical problem. UPI service is now functional and we are closely monitoring the system.
