Two arrested in connection with the murder of Bajrang Dal worker

Chaibasa. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Bajrang Dal worker in Jharkhand’s Chakradharpur. Police said on Tuesday that 35-year-old Kamaldev Giri was attacked with a crude bomb at Bharat Bhavan Chowk on November 12, due to which he died. He said that the massacre was allegedly the result of an old enmity between Giri and one Satish Pradhan over influence in the area. Police said that Pradhan is the main accused in the case and he is yet to be arrested.

Ashutosh Shekhar, Superintendent of Police of West Singhbhum district, said that Gulzar Hussain (25) and Mati-ur-Rehman (27) have been arrested. He said that a 13-member Special Investigation Team constituted to probe the matter identified the two with the help of CCTV footage of the area and arrested them. The official said Giri was attacked by Pradhan and his seven accomplices when he was returning home from the railway station. He said that raids are being conducted in several states to arrest the remaining accused. Police said a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder), Arms Act and provisions of the Explosive Substances Act. There was tension in the area after the murder, following which Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure was invoked.
