Akali and JDS support Draupadi Murmu

New Delhi, Two more opposition parties have announced their support for the NDA’s presidential candidate, Draupadi Murmu. Former BJP ally Akali Dal has announced to vote for BJP-led NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu instead of UPA’s Yashwant Sinha. Keep in mind that two days ago, BJP National President JP Nadda had spoken to Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Badal. On the other hand, Karnataka’s opposition party JDS has also announced its support to Murmu.

Significantly, the Akali Dal withdrew support to the BJP-led government at the Center on the issue of agricultural laws and Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigned from the government. For the first time after ending the alliance, both the parties contested the assembly elections alone and lost badly. Now once again a partnership is being formed between the two. The Akali Dal has extended a hand of friendship to the BJP by supporting the NDA candidate in the presidential election.

Before Akali Dal and JDS, another anti-BJP party BSP has announced its support to Draupadi Murmu. Announcing to support the NDA, Mayawati had said that she is supporting Draupadi Murmu because she comes from the tribal community. He also attacked the opposition and said that the opposition did not consult the BSP regarding the presidential candidate. However, JMM leader Hemant Soren, who is running the government with the Congress in Jharkhand, also met Amit Shah in Delhi and it is believed that he too will support Draupadi Murmu.

Parties like Biju Janata Dal, YSR Congress have already announced their support to the NDA candidate in the presidential election. In such a situation, the victory of Draupadi Murmu is certain. Draupadi Murmu is to face opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha for the post of President. Sinha has held the responsibility of the Ministry of External Affairs and Finance in the Central Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Some time back, he broke away from the BJP and joined the Trinamool Congress.
