Gehlot casts his vote in the election for the post of Congress President

Jaipur. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot cast his vote in the election for the post of Congress President at the Congress State Office in Jaipur on Monday. Gehlot reached the party’s state office and cast his vote. Gehlot also tweeted a picture while casting his vote.

Voting for the post of Congress President is underway on Monday. In Rajasthan, the electors (delegates) are voting at a polling booth set up at the Pradesh Congress Committee office in Jaipur, here.

The party spokesperson said that the polling started at 10 am in the Congress state office and will continue till 5 pm. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara, chief whip Mahesh Joshi, ministers BD Kalla, Vishvendra Singh and Mamta Bhupesh are among those who initially voted. There are a total of 414 electors (delegates) in the state who will vote. Two polling stations have been set up for polling.

It is noteworthy that senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor are facing each other in the election for the post of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president. After this election the party is set to have a non-Gandhi president in more than 24 years. For the sixth time in the 137-year history of the Congress party, voting is being held for the post of president. The election results will be announced on October 19. (Language)
