The airport became home to over 2 lakh plants and trees with 150 different species

World Conservation Day was celebrated at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad. On the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day being observed on 28th July, travelers were delighted and surprised by presenting plantable pens. With a relentless effort to create environmental awareness and promote sustainability, the airport has become home to over 2 lakh plants and trees with 150 different species.

Along with increasing the green cover, SVPI Airport is constantly striving to provide a unique experience to the passengers. Under one such initiative, seed pens were provided to the passengers.

Plantable baggage tags were distributed to passengers at SVPI airport on World Environment Day last month. The airport of Ahmedabad is covered with more than 85,000 square meters of green cover. The terminal includes over 50,000 flowering plants inside and out. Micro irrigation systems have been used at the airport to prevent wastage of water and save water up to 40-70 per cent. Also, only treated water is used to maintain greenery for a long time.

On the occasion of World Conservation Day, the need of the hour is to make committed efforts for our coming generations to live in a healthy environment. Activities like distribution of liquid seed pens by airports are exemplary.
