Mark Boucher apologizes on allegations of racist remarks, fellow players made this allegation

Mark Boucher Apology: Former South African wicket-keeper batsman and current head coach Mark Boucher has apologized for the racial remarks he made during his playing days. Boucher was accused of racist remarks by many players, including Paul Adams, then in the team. After which Boucher submitted his 14-page affidavit in this matter to the Social Justice and Nation Building Committee (SJN) of Cricket South Africa (CSA). In his affidavit to SJN, Boucher has admitted that he and the other players of the team should have shown better conduct in this matter. He said, “I apologize for any allegations that have been made against me regarding racial remarks. Let us tell you that Boucher played 147 Tests and 295 ODIs for South Africa.

Boucher said, “During my playing days, as this is the case, the team, the coaching staff, the selectors and the CSA needed to be more sensitive. During that time such an atmosphere should have been created that any member of the team Players can talk openly on these issues.”

At the same time, he said, “I have learned a lot with age. I sincerely apologize to all my fellow players as a team player. I am very sorry that I have hurt my fellow players. Was part of a group that used racist songs and names for these black players on the team.”
