Asghar led the Afghan team in 59 ODIs and 52 T20Is. He has been the most successful captain in international T20 matches. Under Asghar’s captaincy, Afghanistan won 42 out of 52 matches. Whereas under Dhoni’s captaincy, India won 41 matches and lost 28 matches. In the year 2019, the Afghan Cricket Board removed Asghar from the captaincy, applying the rule of different captains for all three formats of cricket.
