New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Rajendra Pal Gautam, who resigned as a minister in the Delhi government following a controversy over his appearance at a conversion-related event, has helped stop crimes against Dalits in the country. Attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday for allegedly failing.
Gautam called Narendra Modi a ‘weak Prime Minister’ and demanded his resignation. He also sought the resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh over the incident of alleged thrashing of a Dalit man by upper caste persons.
Gautam said on Twitter that Narendra Modi ji, stop these casteist lousy antics! Otherwise you resign. …and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is a complete failure in handling law and order. I know that you are such a weak Prime Minister that you cannot even take his resignation! Don’t worry, my Bahujan Samaj will answer. He also shared a purported video of the incident on his Twitter account in which some persons are thrashing a man abusing him. It is alleged that the attackers belong to the upper caste while the victim is a Dalit.
Former Delhi social welfare minister Gautam had on Sunday resigned from the Arvind Kejriwal-led cabinet amid a row over his attendance at the conversion programme. The program allegedly condemned Hindu deities.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the election campaign in Gujarat used the issue to attack AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and accused him of being “anti-Hindu”. As a minister, Gautam had the responsibility of social welfare, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe department. He is the MLA from Seemapuri.
Gautam had said that he was resigning from the post of minister so that because of him, his leader Kejriwal and AAP would not face any problem. According to sources, Kejriwal is yet to accept his resignation.
The controversy started after a video went viral last week. It was a video of an event held on October 5 in which Gautam attended. Hundreds of people took a pledge to convert to Buddhism and not to accept Hindu gods as gods. (Language)
