Jay Shah reaction on Virat Kohli: For the past several days, there were reports that Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian cricket team, might quit the captaincy from limited overs i.e. ODIs and T20s. But after this, the Indian Cricket Board’s secretary Jay Shah had dismissed these reports outright in an interview. Meanwhile, today Kohli himself announced to leave the captaincy of India in the T20 format through a post on Twitter. Know what BCCI secretary Jay Shah said on his decision.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, “We have a clear roadmap for Team India. Keeping the workload in mind and ensuring that we have a great option, Virat Kohli has taken the captaincy in T20 Internationals after the upcoming World Cup. As decided to quit.”
He further said, “I have been in discussion with Virat Kohli and the leadership team for the last 6 months and this decision has been given a lot of thought. Virat as a player and as a senior member of the team is the future of Indian cricket. Will continue to contribute in shaping up.”
Kohli to step down from captaincy after World Cup
Kohli told that he will step down from the T20 captaincy post after the T20 World Cup to be held in October-November this year. Through a tweet, he thanked everyone for supporting him during his journey.
Kohli wrote in his post, “I consider myself lucky to not only represent India but also to lead the Indian cricket team. Players, support staff, who supported me in my journey as captain. I thank the selection committee, my coach and every Indian who prays for our victory.”
