Kolkata made a strong claim for the playoffs after beating Rajasthan by 86 runs

Kolkata vs Rajasthan: Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Rajasthan Royals by 86 runs in the 54th match of IPL 2021 played in Sharjah. With this, KKR has presented a strong claim for the playoffs. Kolkata had scored 171 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs after playing the first. In response, the Rajasthan Royals team was reduced to just 85 runs in 16.1 overs.

Fast bowlers Shivam Mavi and Lockie Ferguson were the heroes of this blazing victory of Kolkata. Mavi took four for 21 and Ferguson took three for 18. With this win, KKR have almost confirmed their place in the playoffs.

Shubman Gill had scored a half-century

Earlier, after losing the toss, going to bat first, Kolkata Knight Riders had a great start. Venkatesh Iyer and Shubman Gill added 79 runs for the first wicket. Iyer made 38 off 35 balls and was bowled by Rahul Tewatia. He hit three fours and two sixes in his innings. After this, Nitish Rana, who came to bat at number three, scored 12 runs in five balls with the help of a four and a six. He was caught on the boundary off Glen Phillips in an attempt to hit a six.

Whereas Rahul Tripathi scored 21 runs in 14 balls. Tripathi hit three fours in his innings. In the end, Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 14 off 11 balls and captain Eoin Morgan scored 13 runs in 11 balls. Karthik hit a six, then Morgan hit a four and a six.
