Pahari community will get reservation: Sinha

Jammu. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that the Pahari community will get reservation in the Union Territory without diluting the rights of Gujjars and Bakarwals. Sinha told reporters after a function on Tuesday that some people are playing politics over the issue of reservation being given to the Pahari community. “I assure Gujjars and Bakarwals that the rights they have will not be tampered with,” he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent visit to Jammu has already made it clear that hills will get reservation, but it will have no effect on Gurjars and Bakarwals. He said that during his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, he was assured that the report prepared by the Jammu and Kashmir Panel on Agriculture and Allied Sectors would be implemented.
