Will Captain Bana Singh also be called a traitor?

Will Parambir Chakra winner Captain Bana Singh be called a traitor like Uddhav Thackeray? After all they have also opposed the BJP government? Captain Bana Singh has opposed the Agneepath scheme of recruitment in the army. He has said that the country will have to pay a big price for this. Captain Bana Singh, popularly known as the Hero of Siachen, led the attack on Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam post at an altitude of more than 21 thousand feet in 1987. Six Pakistani soldiers were killed in this attack. It was considered an act of indomitable gallantry and in 1988 Bana Singh was awarded the Parambir Chakra. Later that post was renamed as Bana Post.

If such a brave hero gets scared or gets worried by opposing the plan of the government, then the situation can be understood. He had made a tweet in opposition to the Agneepath scheme, in which it was said that ‘Save the country, Agneepath scheme will harm us badly, India is going through a difficult situation. Youth is the future of our country. Later he deleted this tweet and said that when he started getting calls from many places, he asked his son to delete this tweet. Along with this, he also said that when he thought that the government has decided, then it will implement it, so what is the point of doing this tweet.

Think about the helplessness of a brave hero of the army, who believes that if the government has taken a decision, then it will implement it, what to oppose or support! He called it a dictatorial decision and said that those who have worked to bring this scheme are not aware of the armed forces. Bana Singh also said that the army cannot be treated as a toy. Knowingly or unknowingly, he told the reality by telling the symbol of the toy. Doesn’t it look like everything has been turned into a toy for the past several years? Hasn’t such a situation been done to the pillars of democracy and constitutional institutions when the mind filled the key in a toy and when it felt like taking out the battery of a toy and deactivating it?

Ever seen-heard that the government took a decision and the senior officers of the service started defending the decision by holding a press conference by jumping like a doll with keys? Have you ever heard that senior army officers threaten the youth of the country and say that if you join the protest, you will not get a job in the army? Have you ever seen and heard that the four-star general, who has been in the highest rank of the army, while making a public display of contempt towards the youth who want to join the army, says that the Agneepath scheme is voluntary, if you want to come, don’t come if you don’t want to come. Come on, no one is calling you. How is it that no one is calling you? When the army will come out with recruitment vacancies and invite applications, will it not be considered as a call for army jobs?

Irrespective of the purpose for which the Agneepath scheme was brought, it is true that it was not discussed before the announcement of the plan. Many retired military or strategic affairs experts like Captain Bana Singh are questioning this plan. But the government is adamant on implementing this plan and is justifying it by forwarding the army officers, getting statements from them. Then the question is whether Captain Bana Singh, who opposes it, will also be called a traitor like Uddhav Thackeray?
