Vidhan Parishad: SP did not get a single seat, Akhilesh failed continuously in electoral politics

Lucknow. Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav suffered a humiliating defeat in the Legislative Council elections on Tuesday after a crushing defeat in the Vidhan Sabha elections. In the elections held on 36 seats of the Legislative Council, SP has not won a single seat. Party workers are also shocked by such a shameful defeat of SP under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav. On the other hand, political experts say that for the last five years, Akhilesh Yadav is continuously failing in electoral politics. People have also started saying that Akhilesh is another name for failure in politics. If the situation remains the same and Akhilesh does not try to take senior party leaders along with him while running, then soon big leaders like Azam Khan and Shafiqur Rahman Burke will break ties with the party. Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav has already openly indicated to distance himself from the SP.

For Akhilesh Yadav, who is facing such challenges within the party, the crushing defeat in the Legislative Council has given the party leaders angry with him a chance to speak. Due to which the political thinking of Akhilesh Yadav is now being discussed. In such discussions, it is being said that Akhilesh Yadav contested the elections thrice in the last five years by forming an alliance, but could not succeed. Earlier, in the year 2012, when the reins of SP were in the hands of Akhilesh’s father Mulayam Singh. He fought elections alone and formed the government. After this, in the year 2017, Akhilesh Yadav took over the command of the party and keeping Mulayam Singh Yadav’s politics aside, Akhilesh allied with the Congress party in the 2017 assembly elections. Then the slogan of two boys of UP became very loud and under the supervision of Prashant Kishor, the strategist who guaranteed to win the elections, the SP-Congress fought the elections together. But this alliance did not succeed.

The performance of both the SP and the Congress was disappointing. After this, Akhilesh left the Congress before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and made an electoral alliance with the arch-rival Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati. Then the aunt-nephew alliance was very much discussed. Mulayam Singh and Mayawati’s grievances were removed and Mulayam’s daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav touched Mayawati’s feet on the stage. Akhilesh also included Rashtriya Lok Dal by giving seats from his quota in this alliance. But this time also the alliance failed. But due to this alliance, BSP still went from zero to 10 seats but SP remained stuck on five of five. After this, in the last assembly elections, Akhilesh allied with many small parties except BSP and Congress. Under which Akhilesh also coordinated with Jayant Chaudhary of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party of former BJP ally Omprakash Rajbhar, Krishna Patel’s Apna Dal (Communist) and Sanjay Chauhan’s People’s Party. Akhilesh’s alliance was also successful. Not done . Although there has been a big increase in the vote bank of SP, but Akhilesh stayed away from the power of UP.

In such a situation, when Akhilesh Yadav’s election campaign was unsuccessful even in the Legislative Council elections. And the slogan of Aa Rahe Hai Akhilesh and Jeetenge Akhilesh was limited to posters and songs. So now the question is arising that why Akhilesh’s election campaign has failed? Senior journalist Girish Pandey says that the main reason for Akhilesh losing consecutive elections is his distrust towards senior party leaders. Due to which the coalition politics of Akhilesh Yadav proved unsuccessful. Not only this, Akhilesh also reached the verge of losing the trust of his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav, party’s Muslim leader Azam Khan and MP Shafiqur Rahman Burke. If continued, Azam Khan will also break the party’s ties and Shivpal Singh Yadav will also follow the path of Aparna Yadav and join the BJP and make a dent in the Yadav vote bank of SP. Try to keep the senior leaders of the party connected with the party or ignore the angry senior leaders.
