16 killed 30 missing after boat capsizes in Bangladesh

Dhaka. At least 16 people were killed and 30 others missing after a boat capsized in the Karatoya River, 468 km from the capital Dhaka, in Bangladesh’s Panchgad district on Sunday afternoon. Sujoy Kumar Roy, an officer of Boda police station in Panchgarh, said that the bodies of 16 people, including women and children, have been recovered so far.

According to the official, the boat carrying 100 people capsized at around 1.30 pm. Most of the passengers managed to swim after the incident. The official said that around 30 passengers of the ship are still missing and rescue operations are on and the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. (IANS)
