1.5 lakh crore received from auction of 5G spectrum

New Delhi, The auction of 5G spectrum, which lasted for seven days, was completed on Monday. The bidding process for spectrum between Airtel and Jio lasted seven days. The officials of the communication department had estimated that the auction would be completed in two days. But the auction lasted for seven days and in the end the Government of India got more than 1.5 lakh crore rupees from its auction.

According to the information received by the news agency from knowledgeable sources of the government, the government will get Rs 1,50,173 crore from the 5G auction. This was the first auction of 5G spectrum in which Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Gautam Adani’s Adani Data Networks had bid. The government has said that 5G spectrum will be allotted to companies from August 14 to 15. It is expected that by the end of the year, 5G service will be started in most of the major cities of the country.

With the raising of over Rs 1.5 lakh crore from spectrum auction, the government has crossed the previous record of income from spectrum auction, which was set in 2015. At that time the government had raised Rs 1.09 lakh crore from the sale of 4G spectrum. This time in the auction, a total of 72 GHz spectrum worth Rs 4.3 lakh crore has been put on auction. Its validity will be 20 years. It is not yet known how much spectrum has been allotted to which company, but it is being told that Reliance Jio made the most aggressive bid followed by Airtel.

Vodafone Idea also bid in priority circles, while Adani Data Networks bid for 5G airwaves in the 26 GHz band for its private network. It is being told that there was a long bidding for 18 hundred MHz spectrum in the Eastern Uttar Pradesh circle. Its price also increased due to the bids of Jio and Airtel and it also took a long time for the auction to be completed. There are 100 million mobile customers in this circle. According to an estimate, the total spectrum purchase of Jio is more than Rs 84 and a half crore, while Airtel has bought spectrum of more than Rs 46 thousand crore.
